QR Film Interview: Ryan & Andy Tohill - Directors of The Dig
The Dig is a dark Irish-Western telling the story of Callaghan (Moe Dunford) who, having served his 15 years in prison for the murder of a young woman in rural Ireland, is confronted by his past when he comes face to face with the victim's father (Lorcan Cranitch) digging for her on a bog. faced with his own guilt and attempting to move on Callaghan begins to help the man dig.
The Tohill brothers along with the immensely talented Stuart Drennan have created a grim, beautifully shot contemplative film which deals with themes of loyalty, guilt and moving on. A darkly serious tale, the film is one of the shining stars of the increasingly busy Northern Irish Film scene as are the film's directors, brothers, Ryan & Andy Tohill.
The Tohill brothers have produced a number of critically acclaimed short films and worked on a range of Film & TV productions in Northern Ireland including Krypton & Game of Thrones. Now the Brothers have proven to be exceptional filmmakers in this powerful feature and directorial debut.
Jack & Sean had the chance to sit down with Ryan & Andy Tohill last month to discuss their background, the film and what exactly goes into making a film in a massive bog.
Have a listen to the interview below and have a read of the review of the film elsewhere on the website.
The Dig is currently screening at Queen's Film Theatre Belfast with a special screening followed by a Q&A with the Directors on Thursday May 9th.
